John Bennetts is a nationally recognized literacy consultant who partners with schools, districts, and curriculum developers across the country to implement evidence-based practices that support all readers. With extensive experience training educators and collaborating with system leaders, John supports schools and districts nationwide in adopting instructional practices and systems grounded in the Science of Reading and other evidence-based approaches that support all readers, regardless of age or ability. He partners closely with leadership teams to evaluate and refine current practices, ensuring long-term improvements in literacy outcomes.
Before founding his consulting practice, John served as both a teacher and administrator at the elementary and secondary levels, worked at the Rhode Island Department of Education, and managed the development of an online, adaptive reading program for secondary students at Lexia Learning. These experiences provide him with a comprehensive perspective on the educational landscape.
John is especially committed to the mission of Reach Out and Read RI, which emphasizes the power of early literacy and family engagement. Supporting children and families in building a love of books from birth aligns directly with his belief that literacy is the foundation for equity and opportunity.
