The Reach Out and Read RI program began with just 5 healthcare sites and we now proudly serve families at nearly 70 practices and healthcare centers. Last year, over 100,000 books were given to children at their well-care visits while their doctor shared guidance and support with their parents/caregivers to encourage daily reading.

As Reach Out and Read RI celebrates its 25th Anniversary Celebration, we are proud to honor US Senator Jack Reed with the "Champion of Children’s Literacy" award. US Senator Reed has been a steadfast advocate for early childhood education and literacy programs, making significant contributions to the enrichment of young minds across Rhode Island and the nation.

US Senator Reed has helped move the needle forward on early childhood literacy through initiatives such as the Prescribe A Book Act, the Read Across America resolution, and the Reading Refresh program with the public libraries. We are grateful to have Senator Reed as a partner in our work.
